These puppies are F1b hybrid Great Weimars. Their mum, Ava, was bred by ourselves from our KC pedigree Great Dane, Millie and KC pedigree Weimaraner, Otto. The Sire to this litter is a full KC pedigree Weimaraner, Dougal.
We breed our Great Weimars for health and Vitality and to derive the best from both these noble breeds, the physicality and athletic build of the Weimaraner is tempered by the more laid back nature of the Great Dane. A carefully bred hybrid has many genetic benefits over each of the pedigree parent and as experienced and respected breeders with over 35 years of experience - our Great Weimar puppies have grown into the most magnificent dogs.
All our dogs are owned by ourselves and go through a careful selection process of dna and veterinary health checks before ever being considered as suitable for breeding. Their temperament is just as important as good health and because we own our dogs, this is always known to us and we would only select parents with sound, friendly and loving temperaments. This is the best way to pass on similar behaviours in their offspring.
We also carefully select parents with as low a Coefficient of inbreeding (COI) as possible. The closer related both parents are, the higher the percentage COI which can influence the risk of genetic health issues in the offspring being passed on.
The parents of this fabulous litter, Ava and Dougal have zero % COI and are both 100% healthy and have superb natures.
The pups are raised in our home and are always very well socialised for their future new families. All the pups have both pre and post natal worming. They are weaned on a premium puppy food and will be microchipped and fully vet health checked before leaving us. We have many testimonials from previous owners of our Great Weimar hybrids who extol the virtues of these being ‘the ultimate family dog’ (a quote from American breeders of Great Weimars) I can’t disagree!
