Hi all I am absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but we are looking for a loving new home for our 1 year old Golden Labrador called Paddy. We rehomed him at 6 months old as he had had a rough start in life where he had been caged for 3 months solidly as the dogs in his previous home attacked him. We had been on a waiting list to rehome a failed guide dog as our Labrador who is now 7 years old needed company and we wanted to welcome a new addition into our family. As Paddy had a bit of a rough start he had some demons which we had to over come which he is doing so well with his training but unfortunately Paddy loves our other dog too much and won’t leave him alone which is making them both miserable. He is over stimulated and can’t settle and rest which then leads to him getting overtired. We have taken him for training and he’s been with her for 2 weeks and he’s done amazingly but as soon as he was introduced back into home with our dog all his bad habits and over excited behaviour is back and she has said that he is a dog that needs to be on his own until he has mentally matured which with Labs is not until around 2-3 years old. He is a beautiful sweet boy with so much love and energy and he is super cheeky but we can’t give him the space he needs to grow up and he won’t let himself do that as he is too obsessed with our older Lab. He is microchipped, all vaccination are up to date. He has not been neutered yet as the vet said he needed to be 1. He is toilet trained, crate trained, love his walks and is super friendly with other dogs but does bark at any ******y drivers but would just lick them to bits if they came in. He is used to children as he has been round my 4 year old for months now and his recall is doing really well. We need him to go to a home where there are no other dogs as he needs time to grow up and settle and be happy in his own skin and he deserves all the love and cuddles a supporting family could give him. We love him dearly and are broken that we could not make this work but it’s now about doing the best thing for him and giving him a chance to be the best dog we know he can be so please no time wasters. He will come with all his belongings so bed, toys, feeding bowls, lead, food and his XL crate with a bed in and cover. If you have any questions please get in touch. Thanks all x
