MENDIKO are delighted to announce the resulting birth of the first ever Pyrenean mastiff mating in the U.K.
They are an absolutely stunning litter of 10, from our girl Lulu and our boy Zeke.
This litter owes to the many many years of research, thousands of miles travelled and many friendships made within the breed all of which has gone into this pairing. The puppies epitomise the breed characteristics.
The pyrenean mastiff has incredibly low numbers world wide, of which we have 8 (of 10 believed to be in the U.K.)
They are a giant (60 - 110kg and min height 26 inch, but the bigger the better) very very gentle breed who are not in any way boisterous even as puppies. The breed barks considerably less than the pyrenean mountain dog, infact they only really bark at-all if they perceive a threat - when they do bark it is however sonorous.
They are known for being non-aggressive dogs with incredibly stable and reliable dispositions, who will only move to defend should real danger be there.
They make very gentle, caring companions for the family, or easy going livestock guardians for flocks. The breed is particularly good with children of all ages and there are now a few PM service dogs in the United states. They are an independent breed, however are not stubborn and can easily be trained.
We have had
8 males - 3 available
2 female - 1 available
Parents are both health tested Spanish imports (who we have had since 15 weeks of age) , father is from world champion lines. Dad has some of the best hips ever seen in a Pyrenean mastiff world wide and mum also has a very low score. This pairing has a low inbreeding COI which is rare given the few numbers of pyrenean mastiff in the world.
Puppies are raised in the busy environment of our active farm and around our 6 children ranging from 13 years to 1 year old. Socialisation that we do is extensive in line with our 5* license requirements, to make sure puppies are best equipped to move into their new homes and the wider world.
We have lots of experience with livestock guardian breeds from the Iberian peninsula, and are able to offer extensive advice and support to any potential new owners
All puppies raised on a raw feed diet solely and this is expected to be continued in any new home. Given that this is a giant breed, extruded kibble should be avoided at all costs - as should be with any large dog be due to risks associated with kibble expansion in stomachs. There are some alternative cold pressed/freeze dried options that we can offer advice on, if a raw diet is not possible.
Puppies come with
Wormed every 2 weeks since birth
Full vet health check
Extensive new owners manual
5 weeks free insurance
Raw feed to start them in their new homes
Copies of parents health tests
Contract of sale
And a lifetime of support from us.
